Balmoral Show 2015

The GCSE Agriculture and Land Use class attended the Balmoral Show on Thursday 14th May. They all had an enjoyable day and gained further insight into the agricultural industry to assist them with their studies.

Guest Speaker from Tesco

Darren Glover (centre) from Tesco visited St Malachy’s High School, Castlewellan to speak about the logistics activities and supply chain issues for a local supermarket. Following his presentation, the class were involved in a question and answer session to assist in their research for coursework. The Occupational Studies students (Business & Services/Logistics & Transport) are pictured with their teacher Mr Keith Faloon (right).

Easter Quiz Winners 2015

Katie Murnin and Cathal McCann were the two lucky winners of the Easter Quiz. Having completed their research online and answered all the multiple choice questions correctly, they were each awarded with an Easter Egg. Well done!

Scholastic Book Fair 2015

The annual Scholastic Book Fair was in St. Malachy's High School from March 23rd - March 27th. Paulina Rys, Zoe Hilland and Erin O'Neill were amongst the first to check out the books and to choose some new reading material. They are pictured with school librarian, Mrs Moran.

Paulina, Zoe, Erin and Laura Bragger(missing from the photo) won the book prizes from the book fair for best drawings of their favourite book characters.

Books to the value of £316.31 were sold.

50% commission from sales raised £158.61 for new library books.

Study Facilities

Now that the exam season is well underway, remember that students can use our library to study. It is open from 9am - 9.30am and then again from 3.40pm-6pm (Monday - Thursday) for independent revision. It is also important to note that the normal timetable for Years 12, 13 and 14 will continue until the end of term.
