Every student in St Malachy’s is given a student planner at the beginning of each year. The student planner is the most important thing to bring to school every day. You use it to record your daily timetable and your home works, but it also includes useful information like a calendar of events, maths formulae, spellings, tips on healthy lifestyle and of course, very importantly, school holiday dates. There are also spaces for your parents/guardians to write notes to teachers if they have any queries or information they need to share. Of course teachers can communicate to parents through the planner too – so make sure all ‘news’ is good news!

You will write your new timetable in at the beginning of the planner and you should really try to learn this, or at least give yourself a really good idea of which subjects are on which days. It’s also a good idea to make a photocopy of your timetable and put it up somewhere where your parents/guardians can see it. This means that they can check your daily schedule and help you prepare correctly for lessons.

Your Form Teacher will check your planner regularly and sign it and we would ask that your parent/guardian does this too. This is just to help to make sure that you are using your planner in the best possible way.
